Methods of Neuroimaging in Cognitive Research
Cognitive psychophysiology – definition of the object and research methods. Main technologies of neuroimaging (fMRI and EEG), their comparative characteristics. Methods of signal processing (noise removal, separation of signal sources, evaluation of dynamic parameters of brain reaction). Examples of application of neuroimaging methods for analysis of cognitive processes in the brain.
Practice session. Software EEGLab for research on analysis of brain signals.

Brain Correlates of Individual Differences in Cognitive Activity
Approaches to defining interindividual differences in cognitive activity. Neurophysiological models explaining the appearance of cognitive differences. Examples of experiments allowing researching the differences in cognitive activity with the help of EEG or fMRI.
Practice session. Processing EEG obtained from the two groups of subjects – the healthy and autists with Asperger’s syndrome.

Analysis of Brain Activity under Conditions of Solving Linguistic, Musical and Mathematical Problems
Neurolinguistic research – object and method. Phonological, syntactical and semantic processes in the brain. Language processing. Peculiarities of perception of natural, artificial and quasi-natural languages. Distribution of evoked potential and oscillatory responses while solving linguistic, musical and mathematical problems. Interpersonal differences in EEG responses related to the perception of mathematical problems and search for their solution.
Practice session. Processing EEG obtained while resolving linguistic and mathematical problems.
